Iowa is the #1 pork producing state in the U.S. and the top state for pork exports.  Nearly 1/3 of the nation's hogs are raised in Iowa.  At any one time, there approximately 24 million pigs being raised in Iowa.

Selection tips

Look for pork that is light pink in color. Avoid meat that is pale in color. Choose pork with marbling of fat through the cut. Meat should be firm to the touch, cold and have no odor. Packaging should be intact with no excess liquid.

Storage tips

Store in 40°F or below refrigerator for up to 3-5 days.
